I have a new-found adoration for hiking. Can anyone tell me how the hell a gym is so appealing when this is in our backyards?

Six hours spent driving to Seattle and back so this girl could get her lunch at the Rainforest Cafe. Now this is one happy girl.
And another Monday not spent in the confines of my bright and shiny office is another Monday that escapes its stereotypical "mundane" name.

An indolent Sunday on the patio.
A day spent doing nothing but chatting and playing crib with lovely people. We had big plans to go on a hike, go to Granville Island, go watch a movie... you know, have a productive summer Sunday... and somehow, none of that happened. Which I am 150% happy about, because sometimes, a lazy summer Sunday is much nicer than a productive one.

Oh, and watching The Little Mermaid happened... because, well, why not?! What an awesome movie.

Okay, this actually killed me with laughter.
Admittedly, I still giggle every time I look at it. Look at the little baybay!

Such a shame this was a weekday so we couldn't play our Suits drinking game. As usual, if we were playing with shots, we would have been white girl wasted if we had.
In any case, can't wait till this bad boy comes back on for next season.

Probably one of the most active days I've had in a long time, double date style.
A hike up to Quarry Rock and some kayaking made for a really great Saturday morning/afternoon with a few of my favorite people. I must say, we finished this two hour hike in about an hour and even though I definitely struggled, I enjoyed myself so much. Martina, Kris and Nick are definitely more in shape than I am, but Nick stayed with me the whole time and pushed me up to the top (sometimes literally pushed) and I was really surprised when we made it up in half an hour. Really looking forward to doing some more hikes before winter... I would choose a good hike over a smelly gym any day.

This dog is an absolute cheeseball. Seriously loves my mom, and seriously loves cuddles.
Side note: thank God for T3's.

Sooooo done with you, summer. Done with shorts, done with excessive heat, done with sweating, done with subsequent rashes and breaking out.
No, I did not get a chin and nose job. Hurray to cleansing pores! It was raining for the majority of today and it was so very completely wonderfully blissful. My countdown to autumn continues.
As a side note, my face feels fantastic!

Seeking respite from my sauna of an apartment...
...and also enjoying ice water and that eery/wicked moon in the distance. Seriously autumn, when are you going to get here already?! Scarves, boots, lattes, pumpkins, beautifully colored trees, piles of leaves, rain, crisp fall air, cozy knit sweaters... oh my God, I'm grinning just thinking about it.

Another sunny summer Sunday (try say that five times fast) afternoon spent amongst books and trees and my love. When I think of "my happy place", this is it.

Reminded again of what a lucky girl I am... treated to a beautiful date night on a beautiful Saturday.

Going golfing with the firm again in a few weeks. I figured I may as well learn to try hit a few balls, so that way, I don't give up at hole 3 this year. I hate golf. (I suck at golf.)
August 6, 2014
Sweating balls on a Wednesday afternoon. It's not half bad having a gym in your building... I will endeavor to have that one day.

Without getting into a huge social media rant, I'll just say that it's nice sometimes when the people I follow actually post things that aren't just a huge "my life is so much better than yours" photo.
I think this is why I'm hesitant to get rid of it all.

Another afternoon, spent playing cards and reading on a blanket in the park with this handsome guy...

Sundays really are quite wonderful, when a Monday at work is not being dreaded all day long. I had, in fact, a perfect day. I lounged around for most of the morning, ran a few errands in the afternoon with Nat and spent the early evening having our first family dinner with my boyfriend in attendance. It's an amazing feeling to have the people you care most about all in the same room enjoying each others company, good food, and good conversation with absolute ease - and it's very easily taken for granted. These moments, as they say, are what make life worth living. It's been really difficult at times as I've said before to integrate Nick back into my life and just generally feel like a normal couple, so it's for that reason that it feels doubly wonderful to enjoy nights like these, and it reminded me how much I look forward to getting to spend the same kinds of evenings with his family, getting to know them again. It all made me appreciate how very lucky I am to be with someone who values spending time with family as much as I do. We ended up skipping the first movie of the double feature just to spend more time together and it warmed my heart that it was his idea to do so.
Nick and I went on after dinner to go try something different and watch a
black & white movie from the 1940's called Double Indemnity as part
of the Film Noir Festival. It was so cool (and funny) to see and we're
both looking forward to going to watch more. The movie finished early
enough, so (despite my legs still being jelly-like and sore from the run
on Saturday) instead of just heading straight home, he suggested we
take a walk around downtown. We walked all the way down to the water
and around the Convention Centre, just talking and enjoying our
beautiful city and summer evening.

I am so insanely and ridiculously out of shape. But nonetheless, it was a blast and a great way to spend a Saturday morning with good friends.
Carson and Nick ended up running off without us, so Nat and I ran walked by ourselves, jogging occasionally and enjoying chatting and throwing color bombs at each other. It is my mission to do this race again next year with these lovely people but actually run the whole thing. 5K really isn't that much, but there is some definite training that needs to happen!
After a very cleansing shower (three shampoo washes later), a pho double date lunch that totally hit the spot, and a good nap, my hunny and I went to one of our favourite spots on Cambie for a Spanish guitar and Flamenco night. Despite the horrendous service by a very inept waitress, it was a great way to end a Saturday.

We had plans tonight to go to Spanish Banks and enjoy the sunset but, while it was warm out, it certainly was not sunny for some reason. So we decided to improvise and go see a comedy show after a really delicious dinner at the Eatery.
It's funny to see people's reactions to certain comedians and their jokes, so even if the comedian himself wasn't entertaining, that definitely was. He was though, so I got best of both worlds.
As a side note... I have yet to see a funny lady comedian. Awkward silences at a comedy show are... soooooo awkward.
