Lazy Thursdays catching up with PVR.  I feel there is nothing further I need to say to explain why this is so awesome.

Coming home here to live amongst the city lights is pretty wonderful.

Unfortunately, I don't live here.

However, I have a pretty awesome brother who lives with his pretty awesome girlfriend who both offer to let me sleep/stay here as often as I'd like.  Which incidentally means I'm there at least twice a week.  (I cook and clean though to make up for it!)

It's made me realize though, that I would love to live downtown for at least one year of my life as they are doing.  It's such a great experience to have and I love that I get to call it my second home now... apparently.

This lovely lady.

We don't always see eye to eye, but I would never change a thing.  I can joke with her, confide in her and can come to her for absolutely anything and know that regardless of how different we are, she will never turn her back on me.  She is a mother in every sense of the word.  She is a warm, caring and kind-hearted woman and I am beyond blessed to have her as my mamabear.

I would also just like to bring special attention to that teeny tiny egg pan that she's holding.  It can only cook one egg at a time but she was still so excited to get it in the mail today that we couldn't resist proceeding to make fun of it for thirty minutes.

It was one good egg though.

There's not much that will put a little smile on my face at 8:00 on a Sunday morning quite like waking up with this snuggled up next to my feet:

Song of the day: Do I Wanna Know - Arctic Monkeys

They say your 20's are the best years of your life.  I'd say every year of your life has the means to provide you with exactly the "best" you could hope for, if you let it.

But since I'm in my 20-somethings, I may as well try give the saying some meaning.

If there's ever a time to be that drunk bitch that fell down some stairs, your 20's is the time to be it. For the record, I blame: rounds of tequila (plural), high heeled shoes and stairs at a club - in that order.  Who was the genius who came up with the idea to put stairs in a club anyways?!  It's a disastrous "white girl wasted" meets faceplant just waiting to happen.  I'd say I was embarrassed, but the reality of the events that transpired was that I rolled my ankle, tripped down two stairs and then sat down and laughed about it with Danielle for 45 seconds.

So cheers to being in your 20's, making memories and surrounding yourself with wonderful people - old friends & new. Just no tequila, please.

A wonderful show tonight by Luca Fogale.

Not only does he create and perform beautiful music that has the ability to instantly bring me to my most content and peaceful state of mind regardless of my circumstances or surroundings, it is obvious even as a mere acquaintance that he is also a truly humble and kind-hearted soul.

some of the best things are also discounted.

I've got a thing for bridges.

Winter, fall, spring or summer; day or night...
They just have a way of making me feel at peace and one with my city.

Also - just because it's my blog and I can
post more than one photo if I want to...
Just look at these two lovebugs:

They melt my heart.

How can you not smile coming home to this face?

In addition to being the most hyperactive and happy dog you'll ever meet, he's also ridiculously good-looking (anyone ever play the Zoolander drinking game?  If so, here's your cue to take a shot). The only dog I've ever personally met who will stay still long enough for you to take 8-10 awesome pictures of him.

Blue steel, everyone.

Detox-cleanse: day one.

Not gonna lie... this absolutely sucks.  So, what am I thankful for today?  Real food.  Rather, I should say real meals.  Not that I got to have any today, but nonetheless, it is a wonderful thing. I should try to remember that:  1) this detox is only three days and 2) it's actually doing good things for my health and body but I tell ya... hunger makes people (me) VERY cranky so this was the best I could do today.

I'm really excited for Wednesday.

Saturday blessing: re-discovery

In the ways it can connect and reconnect you to a moment, bring up emotions you didn't even realize you had or transport you to a place where you're simply lost in reverie, music captivates me. And every so often, amidst the routine of the every day playlists, a long lost song comes up on shuffle... and today's was perfect.

We'll forget the sun in his jealous sky, as we lie in fields of gold.

January 17, 2014

Friday night with my lovely girl.

And yes, we had take-out White Spot.  I'm thinking of it as
"prep" for my upcoming three day detox cleanse starting Sunday.

My theory is two-fold:
1)  I need to really give my body some shit to "detox" and;
2) ...if I make myself sick by eating too much junk food (check),
I won't crave it as much during my cleanse.
Now that is wishful/delusional thinking at its finest.

If a Friday night in with take-out, movies, blankets and chats is wrong, I don't want to be right.

January 16, 2014

There are very few things that feel better than booking a holiday.  Especially booking a holiday here, one of my favorite places to escape, have a blast, relax and recharge with one of my bests.

Coffees and breakfasts on the balcony, spa treatments, sunshine, tanning, ripping through three books, Lana Del Rey playlists by the spa pool, delicious food, five head showers, pool parties, loud music, dancing the night away... I could go on but I will resist.

Palm Springs: the countdown is ON!

January 15, 2014

One year later, and I still love my new car. One year already?
Happy Anniversary!

You know what else I love?
When my pretty car is clean.  It was a DIRTY winter.

I am 100% grateful for the 100% hand car wash above the mall.
And so is Maca the Mazda.

Speaking of love, I wanted to also post this picture today as I re-discovered
it and it is one of my favorite photos:

I hope to be in a better frame of mind at one point or another this year, single or otherwise,
to talk about this photo more in depth.  Rather, more importantly what it makes me feel
and remember every time I look at it.

Love.

And not just the one that is most obviously associated with this particular photo.
I mean every kind.  The kinds that surround us constantly and make our lives full.

Even on my worst and loneliest days
- the sad, somber, cold and cloudy January-type days -
I remember that which I value most.

And it brings the warmth back.
