February 26, 2014

I feel like this is grossly overpriced at a whopping $26, yet I still buy it anyways.  And besides, I got this one for my birthday (thanks Paul and Danielle!) and I love it just as much as I remember.

It smells like summer.

And this may be the first time I've ever said this in my life, but I'm really excited for summer this year.  I'm so over the cold.  Fucking snow in February?  REALLY?!

I asked my wonderful papi to put this heavy sack back up for me - and of course he did it a day later hehe.  However I never go into the garage so I just noticed it this evening.

I've been paying $60 a month for a membership at a gym that allows me to kick and punch the shit out of everything for almost a year (which reminds me, I should go cancel this).  I've never been a fan of the gym - I tried to get into it and never ever could.  I do happen to have some aggression issues though, so when I discovered I could do this and workout, I was really quite thrilled.  But I'm me afterall, so I quickly grew tired of going out of my way to a place where I could potentially make a fool of myself and didn't go near as often as I should have.

While I am very glad that I signed up and went because it gave me some great guidelines for what I can do for an intense thirty minute workout kicking and punching the shit out of everything (as I of course had ZERO idea before this), I am beyond glad that I can do the exact same thing at my house... for free.  At my own pace.  To my own music.  With a shower right upstairs.  There really is no excuse not to work out when this is in your garage.

I am happy to report... it still fucking burns.

He even poses for photos in the snow.  In case you can't tell, he's sitting in this photo.

As much of a pain in the ass as it is to drive in, this snow really is quite idyllic.

Nights like tonight are among the nights I am the most grateful for.  Sitting around my dining room table with the people that I love and love me most - my family in the most real sense of the word - enjoying a dinner made special for me, drinking wine, laughing and conversing is the best kind of birthday celebration I could think of.

[Minus Martina of course... she really needs to get her ass back home from her fabulous honeymoon!]

I wish I didn't accidentally delete the up-close photo Danielle took of herself on my phone though, because that beauty would have made it up here too had I not.  These two gems however, are on the spotlight today alone.  My special sissys:

(I have a feeling Martina and Danielle's faces in here would have been the only two things that could have made this photo any better.)

Song of the day: Flume - Bon Iver

February 21, 2014

With the exception of a photo I took of my Friday night pho to rub in Danielle's face, I took no photos today.  So I thought today would be a good day to post this one.

Simply because I think the words are beautiful.

Happy birthday to me!

What a wonderful year its been.  Filled with so many experiences, life lessons and beautiful people.  I am another year older and all the wiser.  I never feel as loved as I do on my birthday so regardless of what happens on this day every year, I always, always (despite what I tell people) look forward to it.

Work field trip.

It's easy to forget how intelligent and witty the people I work for are.  I really am blessed to have this job, with these people.  And leaving early on a Wednesday to go to the courthouse to watch an action on a file we all worked so hard on is really quite lovely.

This cat.  Meows too much, is only ever friendly if she wants something and she also says "hello" sometimes.

But shit she's cute.

I would feel bad about doing nothing but this all night but:

1)  It's Monday night; and
2)  It's just so comfortable.

One of my favorite places in the world to be.

We as human beings crave connection.  Whether it's the kind of connection you get from a friend, a relative or a significant other, they are all hugely different and so hugely necessary.  I've been blessed to find that with a few people.

One of my favorite connections is with Maria.  From babysitting me when I was a child to consoling me through my first breakup to discussing the various lessons and experiences of life with tea and candles - we have always been connected.  And she is truly one of the most amazing people I know, so spending a rainy evening in her company is definitely something I am grateful for.

Rainy Saturdays, again.

There is something I find peaceful about the rain.  It doesn't dictate your mood, you can be whatever you want to be when it's raining.

Today, I want to be cozy.

Hormones & Kinder Surprises.

Except not so much the hormones thing.  But if it gets me a free kinder egg, I'm not going to complain (much). I feel I should also mention how difficult these "surprises" are to make.  Aren't these toys supposed to be for children to make?!?  Or is it supposed to encourage some sort of "bonding time" for whichever sucker of parent has to figure out how to make it?  I'm going to go with the latter.

Perfect Sunday night.

February 8, 2014

Sometimes when you have a headache for seven days straight, instead of staying at home in the dark, you may feel the need to say fuck it, go shopping with your best friend and then mull over your purchases over a Ryan Gosling movie.

At least that way, you've got some new clothes.

Song of the day: Nightcall - Kavinsky

This post was meant to star a photo of floating lanterns being released into the beautiful night sky at Spanish Banks.

However upon our arrival, some nice gentlemanly park rangers informed us they were shutting the event down due to a fire hazard.  We were actually really quite upset.

But we recovered.  Here's to candid evenings and two fireplaces.

February 6, 2014

Yeah, yeah, yeah.  I was that LG at the Keg who took a picture of her food when it came out.

However, I feel that it is important to mention that:
1)  I did NOT post this photo on instagram,
2)  I did NOT post this photo on facebook and;
3)  I took this photo only for the sake of my blog... because this right here, was my most favorite part of the day (along with my dinner date, of course).

I think it's possible that I love food way too much.  Is that even possible?

PS:  I can't lie.  I also took this photo to casually and nonchalantly brag to someone who sent me a picture of steak while I was painfully waiting HALF AN HOUR for this meal to come out.  Hehe.

Determined to get this dog to shake a paw.  By the look on her face, I think it's obvious this lovely lady is going to be a fantastic mother!

I actually just can't even. AH!

I would write a long post about how excited I am that I finally get to see my absolute favorite singer live in concert - FOUR FUCKING ROWS FROM THE STAGE - and the wonders of music and the ways it can even make someone this happy (again)... but I won't.  Instead, I will just say this:

I'M GOING TO OLIVER!

Missed the shit out of her.

I don't know how we went a whole month without our weekly hangout, but that was a long ass time without this wonderful girl... even though we talk every day.  I will be missing the shit out of this lucky beeeetch again now, while she jets off on her (one year late!) THREE WEEK HONEYMOON with her lovely husband.  I am so glad they finally get to go and spend a well-deserved three week romantic "newlywed" trip to Aussieland and I'm so excited to see all the photos and hear all the stories!

My first Super Bowl Sunday!
Go Seahawks!

Feeling blessed today for such a wonderful family; the ones who were here today and the ones that were not.  But especially these two wonderful people for hosting a really lovely Super Bowl get-together.

I may as well just live here.

It took every ounce of energy I had to get up from here, get ready and go to a party at 10:30pm but we got ready anyways and celebrated a new friend's housewarming.

And we cleaned house at beer pong, so it was worth it!

It would have been a great idea to take a photo of that happening but as fate would have it, this was the only picture I took today.

Song of the day:  Cola - Lana Del Rey

I could not possibly love these four girls more if I tried.

It's such a cliché to say I have the best friends in the entire world, but... I call it like I see it.  They truly are not simply friends to me, rather family that I would be lost without.  Each one so different than the other and yet somehow, we can spend an entire evening together laughing and being exactly ourselves.  Today, not only am I grateful for them individually - as I am every day - but I am so happy I am fortunate enough that I can have them all together in the same place and call it girls night.
