June 29, 2014

We celebrate both Mother's and Father's day every year, but this year, Father's day kind of slipped away from us so I thought we needed to take a day to celebrate our dad, even if it was belated.  We all spent the day together, enjoying a seafood lunch, watching soccer, playing golf (oh, I absolutely suck at golf), drinking wine (sans fruit flies, for the most part... ew sorry Nick!) and chatting.  And I was lucky enough to have my boyfriend join us all for the first time - it made my day that much better and it truly made my heart smile to see him amongst my family.

Another beautiful summer Sunday, celebrating a wonderful, quiet and loving father.  I have the utmost softest spot for this man and I will forever be a daddy's girl.

Such a lovely day today.  And also, a successful shopping expenditure.

(I'm so spoiled, too!  Hehe.)

Yes.  Just yes.

Sorry, not sorry?  Mmmmm, chocolate.  And yes, I'm always hungry.

June 26, 2014

Another one of those days where I could not decide which one of these gems to share.  So I decided on both.

J'adore this chicklette.

Nothing like having fresh nails, done professionally.

Unfortunately, I'm now addicted.  (I think now is an appropriate time to whip out the oh-so-sarcastic YOLO card)

June 24, 2014

I didn't want to choose between these two photos for today:

I always had a somewhat negative connotation with being downtown as soon as I turned 19.  As much as I loved the idea of being "legal", I was never the biggest fan of clubbing and that's really the only time I ever got to go downtown.  It wasn't until I started going downtown for reasons other than getting white girl wasted (even though it's still fun from time to time to do so) that I started to appreciate and absolutely love the Vancouver vibe (yes, even the hipsters that go along with said vibe... apparently I am one, so I should learn to love them I suppose).  It's a goal of mine to get to live in this area of Vancouver while I'm still in my 20's for a few years, so if looking back on this in five years, I've yet to do so or have it in my horizons, shame on you future Monika!

So it's days like today when I go to meet a handsome man for after-work dinner & drinks that I love to remember.  I would also love to remember that sangria, because it was ridiculously delicious.

June 23, 2014

I'm not entirely sure what I'd like to say in this post, so it will likely be another one of my rambling entries.

In the interest of not divulging too much vomit-inducing details of my love life, but staying with the idea that this blog will be a nice way for me to look back on my life as a twenty-three year old, I wanted to (finally, after a few months) post a photo, starring this guy.  My guy.

It's been a rollarcoaster ride, to say the least; one of those proverbial on-again-off-again relationships, filled with fabulously blissful times and painfully shitty times. We've grown up together, grown apart and back together again.  I was sure the last time we parted ways, it would be the end of this ride but alas here we are once more.  It took me a long time to come around - understandably so, if I'm giving myself credit - and I'm so glad I did (and what a lovely feeling it is to be fought for).  I find myself here again with this wonderful person that I love in an entirely new and beautiful capacity, one which I did not know existed, with him or with anyone, up until this point.  It's been such a long journey and it's one that feels like it's finally just beginning.  We may not know the endings to any of our stories, but I do know that this guy was my first love - and I hope he is my last.

Cutie pieeeeeeeeeeee.

June 18, 2014

So proud of my big bro.  Back when we all lived at home, I can't even remember how many nights I would come home from being out, whether that was at 6pm, 10pm, or 2am and he was sitting in his room right next to the garage, studying away.  He deserved to walk across that stage with distinction.

He insisted that I don't take the morning off work to attend his graduation ceremony, so, I watched the live stream of him crossing the stage, took a photo of it and posted it on facebook to embarrass him instead.  What are sisters for, anyway?

Thank you, Vaseline lotion.

My entire body thanks you.  My entire body that was covered in heat rash, thanks you.

Vacation is nice and all...

But there is no place like home.  I love this city.

June 8, 2014

Ah, a week's vacation.  No work, no waking up at 6am, nothing.

One of those week's, that I have a photo for every day (surprise, surprise) - but don't feel an explanation or long post is necessary.  Day one:

June 7, 2014

Um, yes please.

I wish I took a photo of my day today, as it was much lovelier than this e-mail... however, I was just too busy enjoying the day.

I spent the morning with my family celebrating my parent's 28th wedding anniversary, went on to get pampered with a manicure with Nat and Danielle and spent the evening in with take-out pho and cuddles.  A perfectly lovely Saturday.

June 6, 2014

Leaving the office on a Friday, knowing you don't have to return for 10 whole days is beautiful.  Spending the evening out for dinner, winding down with a delicious bottle of wine on the couch on the patio under a blanket talking about life... even more beautiful.

No photo though to prove it.  This one will do.

Hehehehe.

June 5, 2014

I have many inanimate "obsessions", if you will.  Things that I buy, even though I already have 10.  And I grow attached to them.  Shoes, loose shirts, cozy knit sweaters, coffee mugs... and travel mugs.

Like this one.  It's gold (and was on sale!)  :)

June 4, 2014

An evening walk with sissy in our neighbourhood.

I loved all the nature (and the company too, of course!).  All the tall, old green trees in the park and on the suburban streets. I especially loved this one - even though it was not green.

I love me some foliage.

Never a bad day for beautiful words, or a beautiful song.

A very happy birthday to this beauty!

June 1, 2014

T'was a beautiful day walking around Swangard celebrating Euro Fest.  Haven't gone in about five or six years, but an afternoon walking around in the sunshine with wonderful friends is a not too shabby way to spend the day.  My pasty shoulders definitely got burnt, but some people would say I could use the color.

Also, I got this pretty dope keychain... because I didn't have enough keychains...

A lazy day spent with this guy.

More birthday celebrations; a sangria fish tank for the birthday girl:

Oh, and cheers to accidentally getting drunk!
